he Chapter was pleased to welcome the
2nd Provincial Grand Principal to the
Tinstallation meeting on 3rd October at
the Harlow Masonic Centre to present a 50th
year certificate to E.Comp Terry Hockley who
was also celebrating 40th year as a member of
the Chapter.
All present enjoyed a very good meeting
seeing E.Comp Terry receive a history of his
Masonic career and working life, also on the
night E.Comp Tim Holland install his successor
E.Comp Keith Wood in an excellent manner,
who in a difference to a norm installed all his
officers explaining each office and duties. 25
Companions then enjoyed a lovely festive board
after the meeting.
n 10th of October, 2019, at Crossed Keys Masonic
Centre, witnessed by 50 Companions, St. John’s
OChapter celebrated a major milestone of one Centenary Celebration
hundred years since its consecration.
After the ceremony of Installation, The First Principal of the
Chapter, E. Comp. John Crates, Second Principal, E. Comp. St. John’s Chapter
Gerry Sampson and the Third Principal, E. Comp. Steve
Whittet were delighted to receive members of the Royal
Arch Executive, namely, the Deputy
Grand Superintendent, E. Comp. Nick
Franklin, Second Provincial Grand
Principal, E. Comp. Phil Campbell,
Third Provincial Grand Principal, E.
Comp. Elliott Chevin as well as three
APGP’s, the Provincial Grand Scribe E
and the Provincial Grand DC.
A short history of the Chapter was read
by the Scribe E, and the consecration
minutes were read by the MEZ.
The Provincial Grand Scribe E, read
the centenary certificate and then
the Deputy Grand Superintendent
presented it to the members of St. John’s Chapter. The Chapter immediately conferred honorary membership upon E. Comp. Nick
Franklin, who was delighted!
The Third Provincial Grand Principal then delivered a lecture entitled ‘History in Context’, which was well received by all present.
A cheque for £2,200 was presented to the Deputy Grand Superintendent in favour of Essex Festival 2022, who expressed his grateful
thanks to all members of the Chapter.
After the meeting, a fantastic Festive Board followed with celebratory napkins, pens, coasters and placemats! It was a truly memorable
meeting and one that it is hoped, will set up St. John’s Chapter for its second century.
