join forces to
support local
scout group
The 2nd Stanford-le-Hope Scout Group ran into problems when the floor of their Head Quarters, which is over 25 years old,
started to collapse. The total cost of repair was estimated at around £13,000. Although they are a large Group with over
100 young members this estimate was more than they could possibly find. The hall is used nearly every day of the week by
Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, Dancing School, Karate, Craft Club and other Group meetings. A group of voluntary adult Leaders
was formed by 2 helpers Karen and Michelle, fund raising activities to meet this mammoth task have been arranged and are
ongoing. They also sent requests for help to many Companies and Associations.
Henry de Gray Lodge No. 6627 and Rainham Chapter No. 3079 both have members that are attached to Scouting and recommended
donations. Both Lodge and Chapter members agreed and donations totalling £1100 to assist them was presented on their behalf by
W.Bro Derek Dellow who is a member of both Henry de Gray and Rainham to the 2nd Stanford-le-Hope Group at a meeting where
Scouts, Cubs and Leaders were present and very appreciative.
A wheelie good effort
Rochford Hundred Lodge
SUNDAY 4th August saw the Prudential Ride London event where competitors
battle each other on two wheels over a 100 mile course around London and
Surrey finishing at the Mall.
A Rochford Hundred Lodge member Chris Hayden took part and finished the
course in a creditable 6 hours 30 minutes all in the aid of his charity Great
Ormond Street Hospital. Chris has managed to raise £600 on his JustGiving
page so far. Finishing the gruelling 100 mile ride in aid of GOSH.
Chris is an all action man and keeps himself very fit
by cycling and many other sport activities.
Chris joined the Lodge in December 2017 and is
really enjoying his Freemasonry, he is presently a
Steward but will soon be progressing through the
Offices. He has already delivered various items
of Ritual in the Lodge to a high standard. Not
one to rest on his laurels he has already booked
his entrance to the 2020 event. Well done Chris
on all your efforts for GOSH showing us all what
Freemasonry is all about.
Unfortunately we have to report that Chris has
dislocated his knee playing volleyball in a team
building event with his company Nando’s. He Chris proudly holds the medal he
hopes to make a full recovery. received on completing the ride.
