       Lodge St. Andrew 6
       United Grand Lodge of Queensland

n 27th July, W.Bro’s Paul Bates and John Willis, the WM and IPM respectively of
OThorpe Bay Lodge 4803, attended the installation meeting of Brother James ‘Jay’
Pask, who had been initiated into Thorpe Bay Lodge in March 2015.
The difference being that in the meantime, Jay had emigrated to Australia where he had
continued his Masonic career by joining the Lodge St Andrew no 6 on the register of the
       United Grand Lodge of Queensland.
Lodge St Andrew 6 is the oldest Scottish working ritual Lodge in Queensland having been
formed in 1864 under the Grand Lodge of Scotland before helping to form the UGLQ in
1921. The meeting was graced with the presence of the Deputy Grand Master of Queensland,
RW.Bro Jeffrey Harper, and an escort of several Grand Officers.
It was great to see a Scottish ritual and without a doubt, the repeated use of bagpipes during
the ceremony helped to mitigate the symptoms of jetlag.
The festive board was a family affair as it was attended by many partners of the members
and their children as well as the visiting brethren. On behalf of Thorpe Bay Lodge, a specially
made plaque was presented to Jay along with $250 towards his chosen charity.
If any brother happens to be passing, they meet monthly at Stones Corner Masonic Centre
       in Brisbane.
