surrendered the Charter some 130 years after consecration. But it was also a day of refl ection and
Ihappiness not only when they remembered old friends, events and past successes, but that their name
will live on - on the other side of the globe.
E Comp Ian Simpson APGP guided the companions through their fi nal convocations and had mentioned that a Masonic friend from New Zealand, E Comp Tony
Mansfi eld, was in the process of assisting the brethren in Port Vila, Vanuatu, a group of islands in the South Pacifi c in forming a new Royal Arch Chapter under
the English Constitution to complement the only lodge on the Vanuatu Islands, the Lodge of Discovery No 8737.
On hearing this and that being on an island, they had no Royal Arch equipment whatsoever, the companions of Brooke Chapter voted unanimously that all of
their equipment would be better put to use in the proposed “Chapter of Discovery No 8737”.
By chance, E Comp Tony, who is also 2nd District Grand Principal of the District of North Island New Zealand and who will be the fi rst MEZ of the new Chapter,
happened to be in London on the day of the fi nal Convocation of Brooke Chapter and was delighted to receive the equipment and personally thank the
Companions, and promised that the name of Brooke Chapter No 2005 would live on, with those intrepid new Royal Arch Masons on the other side of the world.
If you are at a loose end in March 2020, the Companions in Vanuatu would be delighted to see you for the consecration – it is only a minimum of 31 hours fl ying
time!
