Macnab Lodge No. 10017 was ‘finally’ consecrated after being disrupted by COVID for two
years at a well-attended and energetic consecration in Saxon Hall, Southend on June 10th.
Macnab was sponsored by fellow thematic (rugby) Lodge of XV No. 9944 who opened the
proceedings before handing over to the Provincial Consecration Team lead by the Provincial
Grand Master, Paul Tarrant.
The consecration packed out Saxon Hall’s main temple and visitors and guests were treated to
a first-rate ceremony with some very unique Macnab based twists!
The Primus Master, Neil Beverley took the Chair and installed the Macnab officers all of which
were also founders of the lodge.
The celebrations at the Festive board really ramped up the atmosphere with representatives
from all of Essex’s sporting thematic lodges in attendance, including the aforementioned,
Lodge of XV and the also recently consecrated Cricket Lodge of Essex No. 10009 each in fine
and competitive voice throughout the evening. Macnab’s new Immediate Past Master, Neil
Anthony, serenaded the festive board with a gutsy rendition of the Master’s song and brethren
enjoyed a sumptuous meal with the main venison course being shot by one of Macnab’s
founding members!
Macnab Lodge looks forward to an exciting programme of shooting and fishing events linked
in with lodge meetings over the coming year alongside what promises to be a highlight of the
masonic calendar – the November Theme Night with special entertainment being provided.
