Provincial Membership
P ro v in c i a l M e m b er s h ip
Such is the importance of Pathway that the PGM has assigned two APGMs, Colin Felton and Robert Eels
to look after and help deliver the scheme at Executive level. They are both supported by incredible and
dedicated membership and mentoring teams in every part of the Province.
As already mentioned, they will be placing considerable focus on addressing losses, finding out why people who have
previously enjoyed their Freemasonry, have decided to leave and finding solutions to reverse that trend.
Addressing and Preventing Losses
Our figures, taken over a period between 2007 and 2018 and which are very approximate, show that Member resignations
for new Masons after just one year is about 12%. Over a two-year period, this loss is 32% and over eight years is 36%.
This is clearly a key target area as part of the Pathway scheme, to retain and retrieve and to address this, we plan to work
closely with Lodges to find new ways of ensuring that any losses are kept to a minimum.
Much of the programme will be directed towards informing new members about the Royal Arch and other Orders.
Statistics show that Masons are more committed when they decide to join other branches of Masonry.
We are clearly going through massive change, Covid has altered perceptions, but
Freemasonry still remains a constant force for good. It protects its core values and it’s
a message that young men want to hear – just as we did when we joined.
Buckhurst Hill Lodge 8291
The Lodge has had the honour and privilege of initiating its
youngest ever member 19year old Brother Vinni Bowles.
Vinni was proposed by his father Stewart Bowles ( who
guided him through the ceremony of his initiation as the
Junior Deacon).
The ceremony was conducted by his Great uncle, Worshipful
Brother Chris Golbourn, and the Ancient charge was given
by the Worshipful Master of the Lodge Worshipful Brother
Ronnie Rowell,
also present at the ceremony was Vinni’s Grandfather Worshipful Brother John Golbourn and his God Farther Brother
John Eldred a truly family affair spanning a collective total of 90 years worthing of freemasonry.
The other members if the lodge also played fantastic parts in the ceremony and Vinni was warmly received into the heart
if the lodge and into freemasonry by all members and guests present in true Buckhursthill Lodge Style.
