On Thursday, the 21st of April 2021, over 200 Companions attended
the convocation (meeting) of Essex First Principals at Saxon Hall
Southend. Members and guests who attended ranged from past
1st Principals as well as newly exalted Companions. This meeting,
as usual, was open to all Companions from Essex and neighbouring
Essex Royal Arch Provincial Exec counties.
with the Chapter Support Team
This meeting was attended by the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent
E.Comp Paul William Tarrant, accompanied by his Deputy E.Comp Elliott
Lloyd Chevin, the Second and Third Provincial Grand Principals E.Comp
Phillip Campbell and E.Comp John Hubbard, along with the rest of the
Essex Royal Arch Provincial Executive and many of the Craft Executive.
After the Chapter was open, the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent took
the 1st Principals’ Chair and proceeded to invest the Celebratory Ranks to
15 Companions from across the province to mark his investiture as Grand
Chapter Support Team in full flow
Superintendent.
Next on the agenda were joining members, 15 Companions who have
served as First Principal in their chapter joined Essex First Principals Chapter.
Finishing with other various agenda items the Chapter was closed, with all
attendees retiring to the Jubilee Suite for the highlight of the evening.
Following the Convocation, there was a presentation of the history and
explanation of the Royal Arch Tracing Boards by the Essex Provincial Grand
Principals of Essex First Principals Chapter Stewards’ Chapter Presentation Team. This is a rarely seen presentation
with the Chapter Support Team
which had only been seen in Essex once before, and it was presented by
the Metropolitan Chapter Support team headed by E.Comp Simon White.
The Metropolitan Grand Stewards Presentation team shared the ritual to the
Essex Presentation team who had just a few months to learn it perfectly. And
that they did, where each member of the Essex team faultlessly delivered
large sections of the ritual to everyone’s delight. The presentation adds
meaning, context and explains the symbolism seen in the Chapter furniture.
Companions receiving If you were unable to be present on that occasion, please note that the
celebratory appointments second presentation will be at the meeting of the Chapter of XV on Friday,
19 August, at Rochford. It certainly is something not to be missed.
If you wish to attend, please contact the Chapter’s Scribe E., Bob Mathew,

After the presentation the companions enjoyed a themed festive board
entitled “King Solomon’s Banquet”, this was in the form of a traditional
a menu which may have been served at the time of the building of King
Principals of Essex First Principals Chapter Solomon Temple, the quality and service of this was truly fit for a King
