Provincial Almoner’s Lodge – Richard Clowes Lodge No 2936

In 2021 we took the decision to adopt the Richard Clowes Lodge as the Provincial Almoner’s Lodge for
Essex.
With meetings at Harlow, Southend and Colchester, the Lodge is designed to
provide an informal setting for Lodge and Chapter Almoners to meet regularly
and discuss all matters ‘almoner’ as well as an ‘Ask the Almoner’ session at every
meeting where the Team or myself would be happy to answer questions. The Lodge
is non progressive and suitable lectures or presentations will be arranged for each
meeting.
I would urge as many of you as possible to support and join the Lodge which I am
certain you will find both interesting and useful. For further details please contact

Financial Support for Brethren

As many of you know from our shared ‘Covid’ experiences, we can offer two levels of financial support:

Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) offers long term support and can be accessed via the network of Grant Officers
(AGO) and Liaison Officers (ALO). Details of the grants available and the process can be accessed via the Provincial
Team, contact details are available via the Cube and Provincial Download.
Essex Provincial Almoners Fund (EPAF) offers immediate and relatively low level assistance to any brethren in urgent
need of funding. This process worked brilliantly during Covid and many families benefited from the hard work of the
Almoner Team to get them through some very tough times. As the ‘cost of living crisis’ approaches it is likely that things
will get difficult again and it is important that brethren are aware that support is available.

Both the MCF and EPAF rely on donations so please remember both when making charitable donations from your
‘Master’s List’ or Relief Chest going forward. Like every excellent initiative undertaken at National or Provincial level these
funds rely on your generosity and I hope that this tradition continues going forward.
