Special Feature
Nick Joseph
ick has been the Almoner in Leyton Grange Lodge for
Nthe past 15 years and enjoys this role very much, it
gives Nick a great deal of satisfaction helping others in the
Lodge, and also their Families.
Nick’s preferred Charity is The Connaught Stroke Club at
Whipps Cross Hospital as it is closest to his Heart. Nick’s
father passed away after having a Major Stroke some years
ago and is the driving force for supporting this charity. Nick
also helped with the Children’s Cancer Unit and many more.
When Nick left school his father got him a job where he
worked as an Apprentice Electrician, but after a few years
Nick realised it was not for him.
Nick had a Friend who had an Agency for Extras called The
Angel Star Agency in Leytonstone East London who asked
Nick if I could help her out the next day. Nick jumped at the
opportunity but had never done anything like acting before
but was convinced to “just go along and hide in the crowd”.
The following day they set off to the BBC studios at 6am.
On arrival to the Nick was asked to be the Foreman of the
Factory, and swiftly went to work on a programme called Clay
Hanger, a program about the Potteries in Victorian times.
After lunch the 1st Assistant asked Nick if he could do a few
lines, of course Nick said, not knowing what he let himself
in for, until the 1st Assistant gave Nick 6 pages to learn in 1
hour. Clearly the director saw something he liked..
It was the easiest £10 he had ever earned, so off Nick went
to East 15 Drama School in Loughton Essex to shape his new
career in acting. And that is how it all started.
It was 50yrs in May 2019 since Nick became an Actor, performing in many successful films and TV series such as Star
Wars, James Bond EastEnders and Dr. Who to name but a few
Nick now travels the World attending Conventions, signing autographs and photos. Nick loves meeting Fans of the
Movies and feels extremely fortunate to have worked on so many prestigious shows, but there is nothing more enjoyable
than coming home and meeting with my friends and brothers within the masonic fraternity.
During Nick travels around the world he has been fortunate enough to have visited a number of Lodges, from Australia,
Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, France, Germany and of course many in the UK.
Nick continues to enjoy Freemasonry and is often invited to Lodges meeting as a speaker and autograph signing. All
fees go to his Charity and Leyton Grange Lodge Worshipful Masters Charity.
