Ben Phillips and Dean Jones
applied to join Essex Freemasons
as direct un-sponsored applicants,
through the Provincial Membership
Team.
Having passed through the various
phases of screening and met with
the local Group Membership
Officer (W.Bro. Daniel Broyd), they
were passed over to Cromwell
Lodge 6971 and met members at
several social events. Both made an
immediate positive impact in these
social meetings and were clearly well
matched to the lodge.
Ben and Dean were initiated on the 17th of November at the Howard Hall Masonic Centre in Braintree in back to
back superb ceremonies witnessed by W.Bro. Charles Elliott (APGM for Cromwell Lodge on an official visit) and
escorted by Provincial Grand Assistant Director of Ceremonies, Chris Sullivan. They were treated to excellent floor
work followed by the preamble to the charge after initiation (delivered by W.Bro. Michael Dougall) and then the
charge after initiation (delivered by W.Bro. Lee Taylor).
Ben and Dean were given a warm welcome in to Essex Freemasons and the lodge were especially please to
welcome Bro. Stephen Hart (also a Member's Pathway initiate from Langthorne Lodge at Braintree) just days after
his own initiation in to Freemasonry.
United Lodge No. 697
A Candidate, a
master mason and the
secretary
On the 17th of November, precisely
one year after the original planned
date at The United Lodge No697 in
Colchester, W.Bro Andrew Colsell
(Lodge Secretary) initiated his son
19 year old Bro Thomas Colsell with
Grandfather Bro David King (also a
member) present.
Attended by as many guests as
members, including an official visit
by W.Bro Jeffery Conway ProvJGW
accompanied by his ProvGStwd
W.Bro David Thorp, very well
attended with close to 50 in the
temple and festive board, it was a
very merry occasion with members
of many local lodges attending,
including Colcestria 7123, Ostrea
8209, Pyefleet 8913, Comrades 2976
and Grey Friars 5169. Consequently,
a bumper raffle and alms collection
was had.
